Powerball News – The Powerball jackpot drought stretched past two months Wednesday night as no tickets were sold nationally that matched all the winning numbers. That means the top prize for Saturday’s drawing leaped to $356 million with a cash option of $224 million, potentially the 21st largest in U.S. lottery history. Wednesday’s drawing was worth $307 million.
Three second-prize tickets worth $1 million apiece were sold — one each in Iowa, Oregon and Texas.
In New Jersey, one person bought a ticket containing four numbers and the Powerball. The $50,000 ticket was sold at an Exxon gas station on Route 34 in Aberdeen.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 12, 30, 36, 47 and 62. The Powerball drawn was 9.
There have now been 17 twice-weekly drawings since Jeff Lindsay won a $447.5 million Powerball jackpot on June 10 with a ticket bought in California
Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot are 292,201,338 to 1. Players have roughly a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to win at least $1 million.
