Mega Millions Jackpot Surges to $422 million: The best time to try your luck !

The Mega Millions lottery result on Friday, July 13, 2018 has found three lucky persons becoming millionaires. However, no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 40, 41, 61, 66 and 67, plus the gold Mega Ball 12. As a result, Friday’s jackpot is estimated at a whopping $422 million ($254.8 million cash). If won at that level, it would be the sixth largest Mega Millions prize ever!

Specifically, there were plenty of big winners Tuesday night. Three tickets matched the five white balls to win $1 million each; they were sold in Florida, New Jersey and Oklahoma. Twenty-five tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball for the game’s $10,000 third prize. Two of those are actually worth $50,000 each because they included the optional Megaplier (available in most states for an extra $1 purchase), which was 5x Tuesday night.

There were a total of 1,248,999 winning tickets at all prize levels in the July 17 drawing. Since the last jackpot was won on May 4, there have been more than 12.4 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 24 worth $1 million or more.

Twenty-two jackpots have been won in the month of July since the game began in 2002, including the largest prize ever won on a single Mega Millions ticket – an Indiana family won $536 million on July 8, 2016. That remains the third largest jackpot ever awarded in the game.

The jackpot was last won in Ohio on May 4, when the ABC XYZ Trust collected $142 million. Two other jackpots have been awarded this year – $451 million on January 5 (in Florida) and $533 million on March 30 (in New Jersey). The latter prize is the fourth largest in the history of Mega Millions.
